Evolution of Conversation on the Web
|
|
|
The web has been facilitating conversation since its inception; we do not pretend to invent web-based chatting. However, we are bringing about a new stage in the evolution of conversations on the web. The invention of Facebook – the social network, allowed us to chronical and rolodex our friends in the real world through a digital platform. But in the end, it is a tool to manage your existing network not to push you out to the rest of the world. In the real world, this might be akin to your birthday party, a gathering of all of
your friends.
The introduction of tools such as Skype allowed for one-on-one video-conversations with your family andfriends all around the world. But, again it is limited to your existing networks. In a metaphorical real world example, this is like meeting a friend at a coffee shop for an intimate catch-up or having a meeting with a colleague in your office.
In recent years the landscape of the net has changed dramatically with the addition of video. Powerful sites such as Youtube created channels for users to upload their own media and share it with millions. However, these are media tools, not conversation tools, and as such it works as One to many. In our real world examples – this is like attending a lecture, listening to a radio show, or watching TV.
TheInteract is hoping to expand upon these incredible, inspiring businesses. We want to facilitate dialogues within a greater conversation. We believe that the power of dialogue, one-on-one conversation, is unparallelin creating connection, understanding, and innovation.
TheInteract aims to create many one-on-one conversations within greater topics, debates, or themes. We’re looking to preserve the value of these interactions and offer ways to collaborate and gather all the ideas thatare fleshed out during these conversations.
Think of it as a globalized version of a large networking or brainstorming event. One engaging conversation follows another as you walk around and mingle with others. |
